Off-Topic: Khalil Sharieff of Island Def Jam

On the heels of our off-the-topic article discussing Lil Twist, we now zoom in on up & coming Island Def Jam artist, Khalil Sharieff. Sharieff was born in November 22, 1994, and hails from Sacramento, California, although he is currently in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is currently pursuing his music career out of Atlanta. Sharieff made his music debut appearing on his good friend Diggy Simmons' "We Have A Problem" on his debut mixtape, and has leaked a few songs of his on on his official youtube (www.youtube.com/Khaliltv916). Simmons and Khalil also collaborated on a remix to 50 Cent's Baby by Me. Khalil's debut album, with distribution from Worldwide Entertainment and Def Jam, will be released soon this year, and Sharieff has been busy in the studio with producers such as Rico Love, Sean Garrett, and Troy Taylor.

Khalil came into the spotlight at the age of 13 in 2008 when he was featured in a pilot for "So You Want To Be A Star" shot in Las Vegas.

My real name is Christopher L. Moore, and I was born to the parents of Rhonda Moore and Stephen L. Gray. I have one sister and her name is Crystal McGriff she is nineteen years old. I look up to her and i love her very much. My mama is the best mother in the world. She takes good care of me and i really appreciate her for the hard work and love she gives me on a daily basis. We have a close family and i feel very blessed to have the all. I attend the Church of a Living God with Pastor H.D McGriff, on Overton Rd, in Dallas, Texas I spend every sunday after church with my family at my grandmother’s house. There is nothing like my grandma’s cooking.
Im in the 8th grade and i attend Kennemer Middle School in Duncanville, Texas. I make good grades and enjoy going to school. Im a member of the basketball team. When im not in school I spend my leisure time rapping, performing and playing with my friends. I’m also a member of Brother 2 Brother mentoring group, and the Oakcliff Boxing Club. My rap name is Lil Twist my cousin and I came up with the name. My dream is to become a famous rapper and entertain people of all races and ages. I started rapping when I was about 8 years old. Drake and Nicki Minaj aren’t the only ones in Young Money creating industry buzz. Now teen rapper Lil Twist, who has long been associated with Young Money has officially signed his deal with rapper Lil Wayne’s label Young Money Entertainment. Lil Twist who has over 1 million views on myspace has officially inked his contract with Universal/Young Money, with a rumored 1.3 million dollar signing bonus.
Lil Twist’s highly successful debut mixtape “The Year Book“ which featured Lil Wayne, Mack Maine, Lil Za, Chu, and Kevlar received over 500,000 downloads online. His follow-up mixtape “Class President” also garnered major attention and featured his Young Money peers Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Short Dawg, Tyga, and Cash Money CEO Birdman.
Notably was his most recent song with Lil Chuckee titled “Girl I Got You” which was featured on the Young Money compilation album. After shooting a video for the track alongside Lil Wayne (who makes a cameo) the video was featured on BET’s 106 and Park.
Twist’s debut album is set for release late this summer. His official single “Love Affair” is gaining lots of attention from the fans and he is shooting a video for that in the upcoming week. Twist is also recording new music with good friend and pop sensation Justin Beiber for a mixtape titled “Best Of Both Worlds”.

Ken Corday Gives Details About DAYS Remembering Frances Reid

Days of Our Lives showrunner Ken Corday revealed in an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest how the show will deal with the passing of Frances Reid and her character. Corday says,
We'll most likely have an internal memorial service for her sometime in the next month, he says. The way we're going to deal with her death on screen is we're not going to one day walk downstairs, as it was with Mickey, and say, ‘Oh, Grandma's dead' and then have a day or two where everyone comes to the show and we have a funeral and you cut to Marie for one line and Doug and Julie for one line and it really becomes 'lip service' to such a great character. So, what we've decided to do is we will play her as being ill and the end is coming and one by one, characters who loved her dearly or are related to her, from the past, will come to the show and 'visit' with her. You can start to imagine the list."

Two things may be coming to Port Charles that we haven't seen in forevaa. First of all when was the last time we had a contract African American on canvas? Instead of carrying on the tradition of slaying the prominent Quartermaines, TV Guide is GH is casting Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Maya Ward, the great granddaughter of cantankerous jillionaire Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle). TVG goes on "The plot has Edward, who had an out-of-wedlock affair with Maya’s great grandmother, agreeing to pay for the young gal’s medical schooling. He persuades her to come to Port Charles and take an internship at General Hospital and move into the Quartermaine mansion." It also reports that Maya's younger half-sister, Zoe, will pop in down the road also. According to the mag also, Maya will be paired with a Spencer and rumors have Zoe possibly with Michael.

Lord in the morning.... On Air On Soaps' Michael Fairman interviewed The Young and the Restless executive producer/head writer Maria Arena Bell and co-show runner Paul Rauch where the duo opened up about when they feel they know an actor is the right fit for the part.
MICHAEL:When the two of you are in auditions together, do you know immediately when the right actor walks in for the part you are casting? MARIA: We have been really in sync, such as the character of Daisy. When Yvonne Zima came in to read for that role, it was like, “Wow, did she pop!” She made us go, “Oh, my gosh. She is fantastic!” You just feel it…. that everything we have talked about in regards to that character, and then that person walks in, you know it. It was also true of Darius.
PAUL: The Darius McCray audition was one of the greatest the network had seen in 20 years.
MARIA: The quality of the actors that were up for the role was extraordinarily high. Everyone who came in for the final audition, and there were four in the finals, they were all fantastic. They were all very different from one another, and in the end, it was about this kind of special quality that Darius had. We just felt that “Star Quality”.

Edge of Night's David Frontman Dead at 71

Another daytime great has passed away. David Froman died Feb. 8. He was 71. While the beloved character actor was a staple of such prime time series as Simon & Simon, TJ Hooker, Trapper John MD, 21 Jump Street, Diagnosis Murder and Matlock, Froman was probably best known for his stellar work as Gunther Wagner on the legendary Edge of Night.

He will be missed.

Daytime's two hottest soaps get even hotter as February Sweeps kicks into full gear!

Over at OLTL, the Morasco Fiasco dud hits a high point, and if you thought if they tried to humanize Stacy last week, they bump it up this week. In IDC news John and Natalie do something and another, our favorite teens (no, not Starr and etc,) Danielle, Matthew, and Destiny get some airtime, Brody and Nurse Charles get into a struggle while Jessica remembers somethings, but are things looking good for her? Dorian and Charlie call off their plan right before the trigger is pulled, but Mitch says one of her girls will be in danger as Adriana and Kelly meet up in Paris and get champagne from a mysterious stranger (GINA TOGNONI & MELISSA FUMERO AIR FEB 12.)! Gigi and Stacy get a close moment after she asks about the baby, then goes into labor, and name the baby after happy memories. However Gigi notices something is wrong with the little girl, she whisks her away to get medical attention, however they are in for trouble! Rex learns the truth and where are Fish and Sky fitting in!?

Down at DAYS, I dislike Stephie even more when she refuses to see Nathan and Mel still love each other when she intercepts a note meant for Nathan from Mel, and then beds him on the ski trip! <------ :(((((((

Feb. 3 marks a sad day for the soap industry as Days of Our Lives legend Frances Reid (Alice Horton) has passed away at the age of 95. Word of the actresses passing first surfaced on Twitter via Soaptown USA and BuzzWorthy Radio, and was later confirmed by Days of Our Lives actresses Alison Sweeney and Nadia Bjorlin. Below are Sweeney and Bjorlin's tweets on Reid's passing.

MICHAEL:
So we can safely assume that the conflict and confrontations between Katherine Chancellor and her son, Tucker, will continue? He is out for revenge on his mother!
STEPHEN:
Yes, he is out for revenge on his mother. I mean any kid that was put in an orphanage at birth, and whose mother put him there and never looked back, would feel resentful of that. So yeah, I am going to get her.
MICHAEL:
Is Tucker a ‘playa’?
STEPHEN:
Oh yes, Tucker is a player. I can give you a little tidbit. One night, Tucker gets a knock at the door and it’s Jill, and he was not expecting her. Tucker is trying to get rid of her the whole time she is standing there, and at the end of the scene, once he finally gets her out of the door, a 20-something year old comes out of his bedroom. I say, “I am sorry this took so long.” And she says, “Less talk and more action, baby.” And I say, “Oh well, I like the sound of that.” And then we get to it…. and so… he is a ‘playa’! (Laughs)

MICHAEL:
So as a recast, how is this going to be handled on-air? Will they make a voice-over announcement, “The part of Tucker McCall will be played by soap superstar, Stephen Nichols?” Or, are they going to have your name on screen under your entrance in typical soap replacement fashion?
STEPHEN:
There is that weirdly embarrassing thing. (Laughs) In fact, I walk out of my bedroom in a robe, and Jill is already out of bed looking out the window. I walk out to see her, and as I am walking out to see her, the director asked me to stop and take a pause at the door before I continued, and that is where they put a chyron emblazed across my robe or my chest, “I am Stephen Nichols and I am playing the part of Tucker McCall.” (Laughs) It’s embarrassing, but fun. It never happened to me before.

Mitchell Memorial Planned on AMC

According to Soap Opera Digest, AMC is planning to have a tribute to James Mitchell (Palmer) who passed away on Friday, January 22.

The mag says,

..a source says the memorial won't air until the spring. The show wants to wait until newly anointed head writers Donna Swajeski and David Kreizman have started, and can do actor and character justice. "The memorial will be really beautiful," promises the insider.

Hope Mitchell and Palmer have been done justice.

GH's Slutbeth got what was coming today!

If Lulu, well now I'm going to call her ScreechLu (coined from people on the YouTube comments) didn't go off today, I was like Slutbeth and Nikolas pick up your face. Everyone knows I'm definitely not a big fan of Slutbeth, and don't love the idea when she's always hailed as a princess, however no discredit to the fabulous Rebecca Herbst. Anyway, ScreechLu was definitely doing some Screechin' today usually I don't fawn over her over the top antics, but I was like go 'head! As some of you also know that Nikolas, a character I try my best to like but the show refuses to let me, also got screeched at. Just watch the clips if you didn't catch it! It was also some Slutbeth/Ethan stuff going on. I like initially but now thinking about it, i'm like nahhhh.

In sad news this evening, we have learned, as tweeted by Soap Opera Digest, that All My Children’s legendary performer, James Mitchell (Palmer Courtlandt) has passed away. The tweet says “AMC’s James Mitchell (Palmer) died today, Jan. 22, 2010 in LA of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, complicated by pneumonia.” Mitchell was 89 years old. More details forthcoming.
On-Air On-Soaps will continue to bring you updates as information becomes available. Our thoughts and prayers are with James Mitchell’s family, friends and cast mates. There was no one quite like him… a true daytime original. Mitchell last appeared on All My Children in its 40th anniversary episode on January 5th.
